Komodo Tour Do and Don’ts
The Do’s
1. Listen to your ranger: Always stay behind the park ranger, walk at their pace, and stick to designated paths.
2. Bring essential cash: There are no ATMs on the islands. Bring plenty of Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) to cover park entrance fees and local snacks.
3. Wear neutral colors: Komodo dragons are highly visual; wear light, muted, or neutral-colored clothing. Bright colors can sometimes provoke them.
4. Inform your guide if menstruating: Women on their period must notify their ranger. Dragons have a keen sense of smell and can detect blood from miles away.
5. Use reef-safe sunscreen: Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before entering the water to help protect the fragile marine ecosystems.
6. Book the trip as early as possible because of quota policy since 2026; 1000 guests in a day.
7. The best option for One day trip must be done by speedboat only
8. One day Komodo Tour from Bali, book the earliest flight from Bali and the latest flight to Bali
🚫 The Don’ts.
1. Don’t wander off alone: For your safety, always stay within sight of your guide.
2. Don’t make sudden movements or loud noises: Do not run, yell, or provoke the dragons.
Loud noises may attract or startle them.
3. Don’t touch or step on coral: When snorkeling (e.g., at Manta Point), ensure you do
not touch any marine life or anchor the boat on live coral.
4. Don’t feed the wildlife: Feeding the Komodo dragons is strictly prohibited and
disrupts their natural ecosystem.
5. Don’t bring perfumes or scented products: Strong fragrances can trigger the dragons’
sense of smell and confuse them.
6. For sharing trip by speedboat, don’t book flight out from Labuan bajo the same day.
Notes: What to do during a rare encounter. If a Komodo dragon approaches or acts
aggressively: Run in a zigzag pattern: If you are chased, do not run in a straight line. Dragons are fast but struggle with sudden changes in direction. Find a stilted house: Climb the stairs of a traditional wooden stilted house. Dragons cannot climb ladders or stairs.
